JOB TITLE: Head of Economic Crime Prevention Oversight
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Bristol, London, Leeds,
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least
two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

We’re heavily investing in our products and teams, to deliver on our purpose of Helping Britain Prosper. We want someone who is open, collaborative, driven, commercial and has an agile mentality who can lead a diverse team whilst having fun along the way! Lead the Insurance, Pensions and Investments Risk Economic Crime Prevention team to ensure positive customer outcomes.
The Head of Economic Crime Prevention Oversight (and our MLRO for our Insurance, Pensions, and Investments entities) is a key role within Insurance, Pensions & Investments (IP&I), providing leadership and strategic direction in the management of risks across our business. The MLRO is accountable to the IP&I Chief Risk Officer and IP&I Chief Executive, and to the Group Director of Financial Crime Prevention as the IP&I Head of ECP Oversight. In addition, the MLRO has personal compliance obligations in respect of money laundering risk as the need arises by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as a SMF 17 holder.
They will apply an extensive understanding of current and emerging fraud and crime risks ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulation, and guidance through the deployment of appropriate anti-money laundering, sanctions, fraud and anti-bribery policies, controls, and procedures. They’ll acquire and disseminate practical guidance on Economic Crime Prevention matters and use detailed risk assessments and other intelligence to manage risks in accordance with appetite.
Role accountabilities:
Set the strategic direction for Economic Crime policy and oversee its effective execution across the legal entity. Oversee first line of defence activity in relation to fraud and financial crime, ensuring it is compliant and within risk appetite.
Lead and manage a high-performing team, overseeing diverse activities and ensuring regulatory compliance through close collaboration with internal risk stakeholders. Own the end-to-end delivery of MLRO reporting for IP&I and the FCA, ensuring timely, high-quality submissions and attestations. Build and maintain an effective external (the regulator etc) and internal network to identify industry standard process, facilitate deep dive risk reviews - and ensure, legal, regulatory, and professional compliance.
Modelling behaviours to demonstrate the Group's values and making sure that management of risk is the responsibility of every colleague.
A key leadership role within both our IPI and Risk Divisions.

Highly experienced and seasoned Economic Crime Prevention professional with deep knowledge of current and emerging regulatory requirements for Fraud, Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions and Anti-Bribery and Corruption matters including relevant legislation and guidance (particularly that contained in the prevailing JMLSG Guidance)
Experience in automating and digitising control environments, integrating innovative tools and platforms to enhance economic crime detection and prevention capabilities in a rapidly changing threat environment.
Proven leadership skills, including the ability to drive transformation and communicate effectively at senior levels, both internally and externally.
A strong track record of using data to drive oversight, generate actionable insights, and support strategic decision-making.
Understanding of Risk Management Frameworks within a financial services organisation.
Experience of providing constructive challenge and support to 1st Line, and in a Shared Services environment to mitigate risks.
Proven in navigating ambiguity and adapting with pace to a rapidly changing environment.
Experience in leading successful teams
Ability to navigate complexity, think strategically, analysing and synthesizing complex information to make informed decisions.
Experience of working within financial services and ideally knowledge of Insurance, Pensions, and Investment businesses.
