Welcome to a new digital future

We’re the UK’s biggest digital bank, with over 18 million online customers. But there’s still so much more we want to achieve. Through more than £3bn investment into our people, technology and data, we’re enhancing our resilience and security against cyber threats, simplifying our architecture and putting cloud technology at the heart of everything we do – enabling our tech and data teams to make a real, positive impact to millions of customers, business and communities, every day.

For you, that means the opportunity to apply your skills to projects that will drive widespread change, open new doors and pioneer better, faster, safer ways forward. Not only that, but you’ll have all the flexibility, the development and the resources you need to make your own journey every bit as exciting as ours.

Our technology

We use a wide range of languages, tools, and techniques to create the best digital experiences for our customers. And the list is constantly evolving, as we continue to review and improve the way we work.

  • Languages and frameworks

Our Engineers develop in a variety of languages including C#, Java, JavaScript and Python. For our mobile apps we tend to code in Swift or Kotlin.

  • Platforms

Alongside traditional platforms like Windows and Linux, we’re migrating our software to the Cloud using GCP, Azure, OpenShift and Kubernetes, and leveraging IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.

  • Techniques

Practices like DevOps (including CI/CD), Test Driven Development, Infrastructure as Code, architectural patterns (such as microservices), containers, and event driven architecture help us create effective solutions, as well as agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.

  • Tools

Our teams use industry standard tools including GitHub, Kubernetes and Terraform to develop and deliver software.

  • We provide a competitive pay and benefits package which offers flexibility and choice to help you make your reward package go further.

Benefits include 4% Flex cash on top of your basic salary, a potential annual performance based award, flexible working, a generous holiday allowance and family leave, health insurance, an excellent pension plan, share plans and much more.

Our package enables you to choose the benefits that suit you and your individual needs and change them as your circumstances change too. As a major employer, we can access goods and services at highly competitive rates and, in some cases, offer tax and national insurance savings that can increase the value of what you receive.

  • Learning is integrated in all we do, from the moment you join us through our onboarding portal to every step you take in your career with us. We curate content from the best external providers to support your development, including professional qualifications, leadership courses and learning for your everyday needs.

In terms of career progression, we give our colleagues the freedom to curate their own career path. We encourage you to move roles as often as you like, whether you're looking to move up the ladder or simply experience something new in order to broaden your skill set.

People are at the centre of our business and we're passionate about inspiring colleagues to be their best in whatever way we can.

Learning and development at the Group

  • We aim to be a great company to work for and as such our colleagues should feel valued, inspired, and empowered. We encourage a culture of wellbeing and inclusivity, we recognise how diverse our workforce is and provide a range of health and wellbeing services to meet the varied needs of our colleagues.

We have developed holistic and accessible support under our six pillars: healthy mind, healthy body, healthy work, healthy relationships, healthy finances, and life stages.

    Our health and wellbeing support

  • Flexible working is key to ensuring our colleagues can have a rewarding career and a healthy lifestyle balance. The flexible working options available are dependent on the role you're in but can include part-time work, a job share, compressed hours and home working. And you don’t have to be a parent or carer to work in a flexible way – some colleagues use it to pursue further study or for many other reasons.

Underpinning this commitment we’re a founding member of the Agile Future Forum, a group of leading UK employers supporting flexible working. In additon we've been named a Top 10 Employer for Working Families over numerous years, and Top Employer for Flexible Hiring at the Timewise Power 50 Awards in 2018.
