António Horta Osório on our 2020 half year results
As we publish our 2020 half year results, António Horta Osório, Group Chief Executive, considers the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy and how we will continue to play our part in helping Britain recover from the crisis.
Today we announce our 2020 half year financial results.
Over the second quarter of the year we have seen the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic, and the wider economic outlook has deteriorated accordingly. As I mentioned in April, the coronavirus represents an unprecedented challenge for the Group and the whole of the UK.
While these have been challenging times, and will continue to be in the months ahead, we believe that the Group remains well placed. We are absolutely focused on supporting our customers, colleagues and communities as we play our part in helping Britain recover from the crisis.
I would like to take a moment to reiterate my immense pride in all of my colleagues across the Group since the lockdown began in March. They have shown exemplary dedication and professionalism in the face of significant personal and professional challenges, whilst remaining absolutely focused on supporting our customers.
We have seen the very best of our organisation in the last few months.
